College of Media Holds Seminar on the Role of Media in Raising Awareness about Literacy in Remote Communities”

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hiyawi, President of Wareth Al-Anbiya University, and supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jamal Al-Taif, Dean of the College of Media, the Women’s Affairs Division at the university, in collaboration with the College of Media, held a seminar titled “Developmental Media and Raising Awareness about the Importance of Literacy in Remote Communities.” The seminar was presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Majid Al-Khatib from the Department of Digital Media on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. in Hall 106 of the university building. The seminar focused on the potential of both traditional and modern media to significantly influence the attitudes, ideas, and beliefs of communities. It explored how media can shape public perspectives and encourage behavioral change, particularly in promoting literacy and motivating audiences to overcome illiteracy in remote areas.

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hiyawi, President of Wareth Al-Anbiya University, and supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jamal Al-Taif, Dean of the College of Media, the Women’s Affairs Division at the university, in collaboration with the College of Media, held a seminar titled “Utilizing Media to Combat Violence, Harassment, and Extortion”. The seminar was delivered by Lecturer Amjad Ali Abdul-Kadhim from the Department of Digital Media on Monday, November 22, 2025, at the university premises, in the presence of faculty members and students of the College of Media. The seminar focused on the most effective strategies for empowering Iraqi women to harness and utilize media—especially digital media—in addressing pressing social issues in Iraq, such as harassment, violence, and extortion.

College of Media Hosts Panel Discussion Highlighting a Student’s Success Story

The Women’s Affairs Division at Wareth Al-Anbiya University, in collaboration with the College of Media, organized a panel discussion titled “Women’s Success: The Inspiring Story of Ilham as a Role Model” on November 24, 2025. The event aimed to highlight women’s achievements and present them as positive examples for society. The session was moderated by Lecturer Hazem Fadel Abu Sakher from the College of Media, who opened the discussion by outlining the challenges women face in the media field compared to men, and how they can persist in a demanding profession. During the session, the journey of Nahawand Dakhel Abd, a student in the Digital Media Department, was highlighted. Despite not completing her earlier studies, facing opposition from her family, and managing marital responsibilities, she aspired to enter the media world. Nahawand shared her academic and personal journey, explaining the numerous obstacles she overcame with perseverance and determination. Today, she is a member of prestigious media institutions, including Karbala TV and Al-Kafeel Radio, while continuing her studies in the second stage of the Digital Media program. Additionally, she has successfully benefited from external examinations administered by the Directorate of Education. Beyond her academic and professional achievements, Nahawand is a devoted mother to two children, who are currently studying in the Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy.

“Strengthening Women’s Roles in Iraq’s Political Sphere to Achieve Transformative Change”

The College of Media at the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (peace be upon him) organized a scientific seminar titled “Enhancing the Role of Women in Iraqi Politics to Drive Change.” The seminar was delivered by faculty member Mr. Walaa Shaker Mahmoud, who explained that women’s political participation refers to their ability to engage in the political process at various levels—whether through elections, joining political parties, assuming legislative and executive positions, contributing to public policy formulation, or influencing public opinion. This participation represents an extension of a broader empowerment process that encompasses economic, social, and cultural dimensions. The seminar, attended by a group of students and media professionals, highlighted the importance of strengthening women’s roles in political life, as this is considered a fundamental indicator of societal progress and the ability to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development. The presentation also reviewed the pivotal role played by Iraqi women after 2003, particularly as the Iraqi Constitution guarantees them a 25% representation in the Council of Representatives and grants them access to political life through the quota system. The event further emphasized the significant impact of enhancing women's roles in Iraqi politics, noting that it contributes to improving the quality of public policies, building political and social balance, promoting social justice, and supporting development and the economy.The seminar concluded by showcasing real examples of women who have played influential roles in political life.

A Scientific Symposium

A Scientific Symposium  Date: 12/2/2024  The College of Media, Department of Digital Media at Warith Al-Anbiyaa University, organized a scientific symposium titled "Design Software in Digital Media" under the direct supervision of its esteemed Dean, Dr. Mohammed Gaml Al-Taif, with the attendance of the Vice Dean, Professor Dr. Abdul Majid Ahmed Al-Khatib, and the Head of the Digital Media Department, Dr. Amjad Ali Al-Rubaie.  The symposium was delivered by Mr. Ali Nouri Hassoun from the Department of Media and Public Relations at the Al-Hussaini Shrine. The session focused on how to operate design programs, their integration into digital media, and their direct influence on society. The event included many discussions and interactions by the attending professors and students.
